I have a 55lb 7 mos old goldendoodle. Have been told by one Vet to start at 6 mos to slow growth another at a year. Any advice. Also how much food. I follow the guide lines but always seems hungrey.

Great question...there is a lot of discussion on this in our Food Group and if you go to the main FORUM and do a search you'll find other past discussions.. Really helpful, check them out and good luck!
Our dog food says to feed until 12-15 months old, but the breeder advised us to change after 8-9 months to slow his growth down. We actually fed the large breed puppy until just over a year old as we were waiting for a good time to change his food in case he got an upset stomach with the change. As it was he had absoltely no problems going onto the adult food, so we were lucky!

I think all dogs are permanently hungry! As long as he is a good weight for his size I wouldn't worry. Our vet told us he would rather see a dog on the lean rather than chubby side as it is better for their joints.
