Okay, I am fedddd up with this biting crap. I feel like I've tried everything and Brooks will not stop biting when he is excited. It's still the same puppy bite from before, but he's 7 months old and I thought it would have ceased by now. I feel like I've tried everything from yelping, ignoring, spraying him with bitter apple in the mouth and closing his mouth and sternly yelling NO BITE. It is only when he's in that "mood" - but its annoying because when people come over, he gets excited and wants to just put his teeth on them. Will it stop as he gets older? I feel like it got better at 5 months and now its BACK! My arm is NOT a chew toy! Help!

Thanks Melody, I just watched it. I will try anything to stop this nipping.
So far, this is working for us.  Hope it works for you!  He only does the biting after a while of playing and I now know that he is tired - he will usually go take a nap after this hard playtime.

This video was very helpful so far. My Shelby is using less pressure when she does go to mouth me,and responds to "No Bite" now when she wouldn't pay attention before. I did not need to do the technique "hard" at all. Now, I can just place my hand over her snout when she is chewing on clothes or has put her mouth on me and she immediately releases. I am also treating her with her kibble whenever she is not biting me! Keeping my fingers crossed, it has been less than 24 hours but I am seeing a Big difference!

Nevermind, does not work consistenty! Still trying to figure this out....looks like we are going to obedience school!

Melody, I tried to see the video but said not available. Sophie started biting and mouthing. She is almost 13 weeks. I have to learn how to get this under control. I have my one year old grandson who crawls and she chases him to play but I think she thinks he's a dog and I am afraid of her hurting him. :(
I cannot have my babies over until he has this under control - those little teeth are like needles!
I know, my DH and my hands and arms are all market up. I am going to try the bottle filled with stones or something that will make a noise. I honestly don't remember my terriers doing this. I had to laugh at a post asking if we have middle names for our dogs...I did call her Sophie Sweetheart...but that has been replaced by a few unmentionable words...lol! Let's hope it gets back to sweetheart!

ha ha~ good one

you should see my arms & hands - omd they are a mess!

I tried filling a can with pennies...does not even phase him, he tries to get the can!

Our Darthvador is 9 months still doesn't know when to stop biting he got me on my rear the other day.  I guess he really wants to play lol. It is annoying but I'm glad to hear it not just our Labradoodle. I was starting to wonder maybe somethings wrong with him because biting is not a good thing. When typically a very submissive kind and very friendly so I not sure what to think. :)

Did Darthvador's nipping get better?  Just curious... I have a 1 year old that still chases my kids and nips them when she gets excited. Hoping for hope :)

HI Scott - How did your doodle progress with the nipping?  I have a 13 month old that likes to nip during play and can be quite the spaz! (I realize your post is 5.5 years old but I'm looking for light at the end of the tunnel) LOL
