Have you read my other posts? only one tiny potty accident in the house since coming home, eating his food like a champ, calm, etc etc...

Day 5?  My sweet calm angel doodle has turned into a vampire over night.  He mouths and nips constantly when he isn't sleeping.  The worst is when we are outside.  He is completely crazy out there- leash walking? HA more like leash eating- when I want him to move he just plops down and looks at me, or rolls in the grass and gets dirt all over him

Normal right?  We just redirect, shove toy in his mouth etc.

Help I feel like I am already being tested by my little doodle monster.  Don't get me wrong- I love him to death and he is one smart doodle- he already knows "sit" and is pretty great with the kids but MAN when he wakes up from a nap its like I gave him a red bull lol.

Also- so nervous because he hasn't gone poop since before lunch- is that bad?  His stool has always been normal looking.

That is hilarious Jodi. I can almost hear Molly saying that LOL

Um, you did read the name of this group right??

Totally normal.  The nippy stage can test one's patience.  When Gavin was teething I knotted up a white tube sock, soaked it in water and froze it.  This was a life-saver - cold, soothing and the right amount of give for chewing enjoyment.

Such a good idea!  I will have to try that.

What a great idea. Never even thought of that. Looks like I need to find a tube sock, stat!

honestly though- he is so predictable that its been not too horrible- Like I know when he wakes up from a long nap he is going to act like a mad man so I am ready with toys in my hand so he bites those and not me :)  Outside is a HUGE distraction for him- I know that when we go out I have to stay really consistent on bringing him right back in if he doesn't make a potty in 10 minutes or else he will just sit there and roll in the grass for hours oblivious to the fact that I am standing there wanting him to move along.  I cannot wait till you get Hattie!

LOLOLOL.... Okay!  NOW you are officially "one of US!"  Welcome to Doodle Kisses and the Crazy doodles!  YUP... all normal... sounded too good to be true right?  Well, who were we to ruin it for you?!  What kind of friends would we be if we actually told you what was coming?  It's like reading the last page in a book before you're half way through!

All normal... he will become the beast and soon this too shall pass and you'll soon be reading someone's post who just got a new puppy and ..... actually miss these times!  LOL

Just keep giving him a toy in the mouth and redirecting.  Watch the kids don't run from him as this quickly becomes a new fun game for him.  Have Jackson, especially fold his arms inside his body and turn his back on him and say NO LOUD!  but watch little angel doesn't try to jump up on him and nip.

TRY to stay calm as I found when Tori got crazy and I yelled and the kids ran... it only made it worse as she got craziER.... and since we're letting secrets out of the bag... there will be MANY times coming that you question your decision to get a pupy and even if you have the strength to stick it out.  Hang in there... we'll all be here for you!

Until then..... good luck, have fun, and HANG ON!

Time out- craziER?  You mean it gets worse lol
It just means your little one feels at home!!!

Good morning, Alli!  This just popped up in my e-mail this morning  (I get the updates from time to time) and I immediately thought of you.  Seems like some good ideas for you and Mr. Nippy Puppy!  (He is so DARN cute!!!)  Enjoy:

I shouldn't really be in this group anymore because Peri is over 2; however, I can remember the first few weeks of her being home and I remember sitting on the floor crying wondering "what have I done??? she is a terror!".  Don't worry, totally normal.  YOu will get through it :)
LOL!  My poor kids- I swear he is like a new baby in the house- he gets 90% of my attention, the kids get the other 10%, hubby gets 0% and I?  I get   -10%
HAHA, Welcome to puppyhood! (okay-sorry I laughed)....

We have been okay on the biting front...I guess that is one of the pros of getting an "older" puppy...we got our Molly at 13weeks. She had enough time to go through the biting stage w/ her siblings and mother, and in return got a nice bite back! So she learned biting was a "no-no" the natural way.
However, that being said...we missed out on a lot of other really good things that I miss b/c we did get an older pup.

Anyways...good luck, she'll grow out of it as long as you stay on top of the situation and redirect her :-)
