Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I posted this in the"Blog section", but felt like sharing it here too, as we newly ex-puppy owners start to deal with our 'adult' dogs....
I  feel like a mom who just took the training wheels off her child's bicycle.... In recent weeks I have noticed that Tori no longer rings her bells by the door to go out. (Sniff, sniff)  She must think she's too big now for such immature communication - lol.  Miss "Big Girl Panties" just walks by the door and either just looks at us as if to say "Uh I'm waiting, here..." or gives a little yelp.  I'm so sad... I miss hearing those bells ringing... maybe I'll retrain her to ring them again... or better yet, start training "someone else"....

Ohhh...that's so sweet! Puppyhood flies by for sure! Remember Shelly.....she'll ALWAYS be your baby! Good for you Tori!!!!
I know the feeling! Maple automatically sits and speaks for her food without command (yawn, how BORING) now and then there's a quick side glance to Lucky to see if she's sitting as if "what's the hold up"?!
My newfie was 9 1/2 years old and he rang the back door bells until he went to the Bridge. My collie is 8 yrs old and my goldendoodle is almost 3 yrs old and they are both enthusiastic bell ringers. My 14 month old Australian Labradoodle however, has never been a bell ringer, instead poking his leash & collar with his nose (it is hung on the leash hooks by the back door).

I think it's actually what your dog prefers vs an age related behavior. :-)
