Mac was born a milk chocolate color and we knew he would lighten up...which he did but now his roots are growing in darker! We haven't cut his hair yet because we love his rainbow of colors but can't wait to see what color he will end up...any ideas?

Most puppies do lighten as they get older. (Tori on the other hand didn't really much at all) and what a cutie Mac is! He looks like he lightened somewhat. what a great color he is and love that nose and his eyes!
I can see why you are enjoying his 'rainbow of colors' - he is darling whatever shade he turns out to be.

Oh I agree! Mac was an adorable pup and is still too cute! :D

Super cute! Great coloring no matter what, but I'm bad at surprises so it would be driving me nuts!
My Webster was born "semi-sweet" chocolate (not quite dark, not quite milk). He was born in March and I think I gave him a bit of a haircut around August, so maybe 5-6 months old. I took 1-2 inches off his ends and scissors clipped him all over. He looked a bit darker after his clip so I think the sun had lightened his hair. He no longer has dark roots, he has lightened all over. I miss the true chocolate color but, in my unbiased opinion :-), he's still a good looking dood! (I have his color progression somewhere on this discussion board.)

Do you have a current picture of Mac? I'd love to see how he's changed :)

My little dood is doing the same thing.  He looks like a bottle blonde on the tips, but has dark apricot roots (more the color of when I got him at 8 weeks)  He is just under 7 months, and I'm hearing he'll likely lighten up even more.  What fascinates me even more is when the dark chocolate doods turn lavender and silver!  So amazing (and stunning)

Oh he is beautiful!
