6 weeks old - the day I picked him out. Dark red with a little wave but no curl.
4 1/2 months. Still pretty dark red and wavy.
15 months. He's gotten lighter, and you can start to see a little bit of the curl coming through on his head. But his body coat is still pretty straight. He was in full coat at this time, and I think the weight of that was pulling out some of the curl.
2 years old. You can see he's a lot lighter. With this shorter haircut, his body is curlier. And when he gets wet, he gets really, really curly.
33 months old (about a month ago). His haircut is still short. You can really see the color variety in his coat now. Depending on the lighting, he still has some darker red areas, but most of him is lighter now. He usually looks like he pays a fortune for great hi-lites. And he's gone from wavy as a puppy to a little curlier as an adult.
One of the joys of having Halas has been watching his coat change. I think so many of us had a specific coat in mind when we got our doodles, whether it was color or type (wavy, fleece, wool, etc.). But I think all of us quickly discovered that the coat didn't matter at all. You just end up loving the doodle so much, that all of their hair could fall out, and it wouldn't matter. You end up embracing the changes and variety in the coats.
