Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Boone is an 8 month old F1B Labradoodle. You can see from the photo that he has more of the wavy, shaggy coat. When he was younger, he didn't shed at all. Now he sheds like CRAZY. We brush him regularly and tons of hair is in the brush. I have to clean up the hair around his crate every day.

Obviously, he's a fantastic puppy and his shedding doesn't make us love him any less. I'm just wondering if it's a phase he's going through at this age. Does anyone else have any experience with this? Will he eventually shed less? Anything we can do to reduce it?

Not unusual to shed when they loose their puppy coat.
He's likely loosing his puppy coat. Our breeder takes her dogs down with a #4 clipper blade when their coat changes.

He has exactly my favorite 'look.'  Keep brushing.  If you are lucky, it is his puppy coat that is coming out; if you aren't lucky, frequent sweeping and vacuum is in your future. :-}
