Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone! This forum was a great help to me when my doodle Rosie was a puppy, and now that she is almost a year old and we have a new doodle baby, I've returned. :)

Rosie ended up getting a lot lighter over time. But compared to her siblings, she is still the darkest. Her coat has gotten curlier over time, but not super tight curls. I'm hoping Ruby's coat will be the same way, especially since Ruby is basically Rosie's puppy twin!!

Watching the newborn through week 9 photo and video updates, Ruby seems to have been the only pup in her litter to get slightly darker since birth. At birth, only 1 puppy was dark/red, but on pickup day, Ruby was the darkest pup. The breeder said since her ears are so dark, she may continue to darken. Thoughts? Rosie had darker ears as a baby, but she got a lot lighter over time.

Rosie's mom is an apricot doodle and dad is a red and white parti poodle. Ruby has the same dad, and her mom is a red doodle.

Thanks for looking!

It seems that most doodles lighten up over time, but some goldendoodles do get darker so ........ Both of your girls are a beautiful, rich color.

They are both adorable- I'm partial to redheads!  :-)  My guess is that Ruby will lighten up like Rosie did. Winnie is a F1, so not as curly as your 2, but the coloring is similar. I miss the days when she was a darker red, but I'm getting more used to her lighter coloring every day. It's hard to tell in my second pic, but her ears are still dark red....
