Hi Marion,
Yes, we have Xander from Frankie and Buttercup's litter 3/9/07. Since goldendoodle's are prone to hip displacia they shouldn't be jumping the first year anyhow, but we still discourage it today. I have a small SUV and I always lift him in and out of it (he's only 40lbs). Xander was very reluctant to climb stairs that first year too. He was okay walking down them, but didn't walk up them. We never pushed him. When he was a year old he learned how to jump steps (real short ones) and from then on he loved to go up and down them. I think we just got late bloomers, and that's actually a good thing because it means they're more cautious and less likely to hurt themselves! Don't push her, allow her to take things at her own pace. Hope this helped!
Hi Marion, I think I have met you at Carol's, I'm her friend who grooms her dogs...
I'm sorry, but I laughed out loud when I read this. You have one issue and I have the complete opposite. One of my doodle girls won't stop running like a banche and jumping around and got so crazy today with one of my puppies that I think she landed on him and now he has a sprained ankle (and hopefully that's all). So jumpig isn't all that good and causes some issues of it's own. I know it seems like it's a hastle to lift her off the sofa but at least she's cautious and that's a good thing. Have fun with your sweetie!
Our dog Darwin is from that same litter. He loves to jump, and can jump pretty high.
Its nice to see a posting from one off our dog's siblings.
