Meet Baxter & Sherlock

We have 2 elderly beagle brothers, Baxter Black and Sherlock Holmes.  They turned 10 on October 27, 2010. 

Baxter is suffering a bit from arthritis that is aggravated more from him being more than a little pudgy.

Sherlock was able to ring in the new year last night with a soft cookie.  He has terminal cancer and the vet oncologist says we have the love bug for only a few more weeks.

Ok, So Moonshine is not a dog, but he is our 16.5 year old cat.  He is going as strong as ever.

Baxter and Sherlock are very handsome and youthful looking! And of course, we are so sorry about Sherlock.

My Dinah is also 16.5 years old, (she will be 17 on St. Patrick's Day)  and she could be Moonshine's twin. I'll have to find a photo to post.

Sorry to hear about Sherlock. They do look great, though. Arthritis is a tought one especially in the winter time....How is the weather like in GA? Butter seems pretty stiff, and very slow at getting up and sitting down....

Jared, Thanks so much for your kind words.  Sherlock lasted for only a couple of days after this post.  He slipped quietly into the dark night on January 5th.  We have his ashes and a wonderful sleeping beagle angel statue resting on our mantle waiting for spring and softer ground.  We will bury Sherlock in his favorite sun bathing spot in the backyard and statue will keep watch over him.
