Does anyone have this experience?  I plan to ask my allergist about it at my next appointment and I will post her answer, but it may be a while before I do.

When Porter is wet, my nose tickles and I get wheezy.  No other time.  (He does not shed, btw.)  What could it be about wet dog?  You'd think that the dander is less likely to be in the air around him when he is wet, like pollen when it rains.  That said, my mold issues are very bad when it rains, and maybe Porter has some natural fungus?

Any ideas (as I struggle to breathe following his dip in a stream this morning.)?

Could it be due to pollen sticking to the wet fur?
Also, if you do have mold allergies, there are probably common water molds in the stream water.
That IS a good theory, but pollen and ragweed are the two allergies I appear to have gotten rid of permanently by doing allergy shots as a kid--according to my observation, bloodwork, and prick tests.

Dust, cats, dogs, and mold...they receded for a decade or two then came back.
Dust, the worst.
Dogs, I barely ping on the test...hence Hairy Fatboy.

I've been getting shots again for 1.5 yrs, and haven't been retested. They do help a lot. I can clean a closet w/o turning into a river of snot. Rainy days make me tight chested, but no more (fingers crossed) allergic pneumonitis.
I am sorry you are having such a hard time with your allergies. Jackdoodle sympathizes completely. It has been a terrible season for allergy sufferers. people who never had symptoms before are having them now.
One of Jack's allergens is a very common type of water mold that is found just about everywhere there is water. His allergist also told me that the molds are the toughest allergens in terms of getting good results from the immunotherapy shots.
Jackdoodle has MY sympathies. I think he's got it tougher. People with APBA (a mold) allergy in their lungs are sometimes able to get improvement with Xoliar. It blocks the IgE reaction, and sounds like heaven for people who are crippled by their allergies. I wonder if this would ever be available for Jack. And Singulair....I love me my Singulair.
Jackdoodle's symptoms, like most allergic dogs', mostly involve his skin. Fortunately, he hasn't had upper respiratory symptoms.
Hope you're feeling better soon. The cooler weather is definitely helping Jack!
Is the skin stuff an IgE reaction? Even though Xoliar is to reduce asthma, if skin stuff were IgE-mediated, in theory, it would help.
Yep...IgE reaction, which is what all true allergies are, regardless of the symptoms.
I will have to research the Xoliar, although I have been researching treatment options for Jack for several years and have not seen any mention of it. But I will definitely look into it, thanks.
