Hello everyone.  We started a discussion mid-discussion about a trip to San Diego's Ocean Dog Beach.

We are trying to pool dates so everyone who wants to go can attend.  Cindy had a great suggestion about emailing everyone who might be interested but since I'm not tech savy and don't know how to find everyones emails easily I'm going with plan B and made it a discussion of it's own?? Ü

Trying to work around the Thanksgiving holiday I suggested November 16th or 23rd? If that doesn't work how about December 7th?  That would be the first Saturday of the month after Thanksgiving?

For the most part California is always sunny and the dogs don't seem to care if it's hot or cold, just unhook that leash and give'em a beach to frolick on, at least that's how my girls roll! lol

For those intersested there are lots of overnight options if you want to make it a weekend.  There is a little dog friendly motel just as you enter the parking lot of Ocean Dog Beach or if you like camping there are tons of campgrounds in the area.  There seems ot be more RV campgrounds in the Mission Bay area but if you like tenting it or even simple cabins there is San Diego KOA which is about 15 minutes away (we always stay here).

There are also tons of dog parks in the area too (we are trying to hit them all).   Fiesta Island is a dog friendly island and has a huge dog park at one end.  I've discovered seasonal timing is important though.  In my photos there are a few of the girls frolicking in daisies.  This was our first trip to Fiesta Island dog park but the next time we went the flowers were gone and the foxtails were abundant! Not good.  Coronado Island has a dog park or beach (can't remember which) it's on our to do list with the dogs.

If we get a good group and folks are interested maybe we can find a dog friendly place to eat and have lunch or an early dinner together?  This would depend on the times we pick?

Please reply to this discussion with your date preference (if you want to do a first choice, second choice?)  Here's were I wish I knew how to do that survey monkey stuff!  I will keep a tally, if you can have you dates picked by the end of October I will get something posted the first of the month in the event section.

We can talk more Saturday for those attending the Arbor Park romp.

Thanks,

Jolene

I've added the rest of the pictures to my photo album.  Couple cute ones of Enzo and a great one (I think) of Gracie looking for mom cuz Enzo has taken her ball!  That expression totally reminds me of Sassparilla.  Some of Nimbus in the water and then some funny ones of Sassy and those ears flopping all over the place and more.

We are ready for the next get together, speaking of which, we should be good with the 15th.

Jolene! You have out done yourself! Awesome pics! Thanks so much! Loved going through them all.

Thanks, they pale in comparison to Nancy's color and close ups though, but, they work for me.  I tend to go for the action shots, I've gotten some pretty halarious ones over the years.

You are right Sassy does have springs in her legs, should have called her pogo stick!  Over this last weekend we were feeding the dogs next door and she heard us in their backyard next thing I knew there was a head and upper paws popping up and staritng to scale the fence that separates our houses.  It has to be at least 8'!  I warned the neighbors when they start swimming this summer they may have an extra dog in the yard!

At ocean beach last year over where the waves are it was low tide so I was throwing the ball out.  A family came by with their kids and small dogs (yapping), I think in a panic she assumed they would steal her ball, she leaped above this guys head completely across the familly, scared me to death (he thought it was awesome).  Running too fast and jumping too high is a recipe for danger.  She had to be a least 6' in the air and just glided past all four of them!  What caught my eye was the man was leaning back waving his arms in a circular motion I think to keep his balance, had he not moved she probably would have plowed into him!  Talk about keeping an eye on the ball!  I'm sure it's just a matter of time before she does damage to her knees/hips.  Thats why when we are at the dog park I throw the ball high up in the air, minimul running and leaping. Ü

Gracie also has springs in her legs.  She can clear a 4 and 6 foot fence with no problem  She is very agile and lands gracefully on her feet.  She is beautiful to watch run and jump.  We did agility training when she was a year old.  She just has that Poodle spring in her step and is very light on her feet except when she steps on ours!!!

Jolene, your pictures are fantastic.  You got some wonderful shots.  OMD, I kept thinking I was looking at pictures of a wet Clancy and it was mostly Enzo  - except for a couple that were Gibson! They don't seem to look that much alike but when wet or from certain angles they actually do.
