Hi Everyone,

I heard a rumor? that Golden Doodles loose their puppy coats and get an adult coat at some point.  Please let me know if you know something about this.  Betsy has a very straight and fleese like coat and seems to be loosing some hair.  She is 18 weeks old.

Look forward to meeting everyone at the next doodle romp.  I guess it will be the end of the month with all the rain that we are having.

Hey Susan,

I heard that rumor too, but I've also heard there is really no guarantee . . . some shed and others don't. My wonderful Jackson (Goldendoodle) is 15 months now and still sheds. I don't mind though, because it's nothing compared to what my Collie Shepherd did. Not to mention, I love this dog so it's worth it!:)

I'll let everyone know if suddenly Jackson stops shedding.

Best regards,

Cindy

Dear Susan,

I know exactly how you feel.  My extremely fluffy goldendoodle puppy is looking very scruffy at 16 weeks.  I comb him every night and get a comb full of fluff.  I'm not finding fluff balls anywhere but his coat is definately thinner tan it was.  Check out the Goldendoodleworld.com website and look under "coat phases/changes.  The website is VERY wordy and I don't agree with everything but there is some good info about a third of the way down the page.  I guess our puppies are just losing their puppy coat and will continue to over the next few months.  It sounds like the adult coat starts to kick in as well so I wouldn't worry about it.  I think our pups will have plenty of hair by the one year mark.  Welcome to the Doodlekisses site.  I am with the Southern CA group as well as the Almond Blossom group.  It's a site filled with wonderful information and great people always willing to share.  I have just one goldendoodle named Beckett.  As I said, he's 16 weeks and sweet as can be.  We are enjoying him so much and I'm sure you are too.  Best of luck.  Karen Farr

Almost all doodles have a coat change.  Some, like Ned, have it go on for about1 1/2 years and some seem to have one small round.  Some doodles shed and some don't and with some shedding is temporary. Some doodles mat and some don't and with some the matting is temporary.  Is this about as helpful as mud?
