Stacy - I just put Jack in the bathtub. He likes taking baths so he is calm in there and I tye him to one of the handles in there. It would probably be easier on my back to get a table but you may want to try it some place like that before you go spend the money.

Awesome Ken! I was thinking about getting an actual grooming table to use in the future, but have read in several places that by just putting the dog up on a table or counter of some kind, with a non-slip map under them, that they are calmer and, as Ken said, seem to know that it is not play time.
Glad you got Grady all groomed Ken, so do you think you will continue to groom him yourself?

Hi Ken!

Glad to here we will have a new member, Welcome Stacy!

Love the new pics, Grady looks so much bigger than Jack with all that hair! How’s he do in the heat with all that hair? I gave up on the long coat for Jack as soon as summer started.

Good to hear that your first home hair cut went so well, it’s definitely time consuming. I took your approach with Jack and did a little at a time to allow for breaks for both of us. I feel more confident now after completing two at home hair-cuts and the results were much better the second time around.

Does Grady or any of the other pups have allergies? Jack has been battling allergies since the spring, his eye get red and swollen, his nose runs, and he gets rashes all of this body. They are definitely seasonal (grass, hay, tree) because he switched his diet to a naturally lamb and rice (low allergen diet) and that didn’t help. We have tried multiple medications for his vet, the one he is currently on is Temaril P, but it makes me nervous keeping him on this for such a long time since it has steroids in it.

Hi everyone!

I haven’t commented in some time so I thought I would throw out some info and questions as well. I am going to post some up to date pictures of him as well. Grady is now over 60 pounds! That weight was 2 weeks ago an we think he just went through another growth spurt.

I would like to let everyone know we have one of the new puppy owners on board. Stacy Cook has got a Charlie look alike. What a cute little guy!! The new litter had 3 white and I think 3 chocolate pups. Welcome on board I hope you get him home soon to enjoy!! Sleep comes later:- )

Grady is having a great summer. Loves swimming!! Has anyone else noticed these pups love water? Grady will jump off the boat, in from shore, I have cell phone video of him long jumping into a pool or he actually body surfs in the ocean. I am hoping to get a video next time we are at the beach that has good surf.(very funny)

This being said you can imagine the trouble we have with his coat. He has been groomed once and we asked them to just clean him up. They did a great job and we didn’t go through any “groomers remorse”. ( just the wallet remorse) So with his hair a mess and the schedule not allowing us to take him to the groomer…Stacy Cook’s influence (she said she was going to do her own grooming) …..and the groomers section on this site …… I took the plunge and gave Grady his first cut from me. I was scared to start and did the head first, a little at a time. Still thinking I would take him to the groomer when schedules allowed, I didn’t want to touch his main body. I finally did. I did the cutting over the day starting at about 8am and finishing late afternoon. We went shopping and did other thinks during the day. This gave Grady and me both some relaxing time. Well I hate to say it but …… beer that would help ……. Ok I know what your thinking, but it seem to relax Grady as well. Things went quite well and even though I still make a snip here and there we are very pleased.

I did the clipping in the kitchen on a fold out table we use for everything from camping, BBQ’s on the deck to filleting fish at the docks. It has three height adjustments and using the lower one Grady could get up and down easily. This seemed to make Grady understand it was not time to play etc. while on the table. I used hair cutting scissors, and tried a shear that I had bought for the kids hair long ago and have upgraded since. The electric shears on Grady’s fleece coat were of no use. They just did not seem to allow me to be consistent. The hole cut was done with one 6 inch hair cutting scissor. I am going to take the recommendation for scissors from the grooming section.

Love to see some updated pictures.

Hope every one is well.

FYI: There is an Ohio doodle romp coming up! Here is some of info, posted by Joanne in the Ohio Doodle Group:

It's time OHIO. June 12th ( tentative ) for a doodle romp at Bow Wow Beach in Stow, Ohio.

Rain Date is June 26th. Bring a Doodle and a Beach Towel. Dog Showers are new in the park this year so you can get some of the sand off those doodle curls before you take the dog out of the park.

The Park is Free. You do not need to provide shot records or vaccinations.

There are many hotels located in Stow, Ohio and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio if anyone is coming into town and would like to stay over night. Kent, Ohio is also another alternative with lots of hotels, although, it is 17 minutes away from the park. This is up to you~~ so you would need to do a search and make these arrangements yourself. If anyone finds a hotel in Stow, Cuyahoga Falls, or Kent who welcomes dogs please post.

The park can be busy early on Saturday so I was thinking 2 pm.

Anyone have suggestions, comments, or a better idea please post it here.

I am not in charge of this romp~~ just tired of sitting at home on Stay-Cation this summer and miss seeing all the doodles so I posted this suggestion.

Here is the website to get more information about the park.

There is:

* Swimming
* Dock Jumping
* Dry Land~ for those doodles who prefer to not to walk on water :)

Hi everyone! I haven't been on DK in so long! I was so happy to see that our little group is still up and running and that everyone is doing so well. Harper will a year old in 3 days...it's so crazy how time flies! She's weighing in at 65 pounds, and is doing great, although she still thinks she is a lap dog :) We need to plan a sibling reunion for the summer!

Here are a couple recent pictures of our little fluffball. As you can see, she's no longer just chocolate! Her coat is a combination of apricot, red, mocha and lavender...she's absolutely beautiful and incredibly unique!

I am not sure who Bear's mom is........I know she was a beige poodle and the dad was the F1 Chocolate Labradoodle.....I can not find the folder with Bear's information. I will look for it and let you know his mom's and dad's names. So I guess they must have other dogs?
