Really fun and inspiring talk from a social psychologist about how body language can influence YOUR mind not just that of others.  Especially interesting research that shows that assuming a dominant/alpha pose for 2 min can increase testosterone and decrease cortisol...lends some credence to Cesar Milan's 'magic' in my opinion.  He may not be a good 'trainer' but his advice probably has some scientific reasons for helping owners take charge.

Watch the video (about 20 min) and then read the article.

Sounds interesting, off to read.
Too bad they didn't give much evidence about the study of postural including of hormones. But since I don't want to become more hirsute and I think corticosteroids help my arthritis I guess I'll just stand the way I usually do :-)

Perhaps it's a temporary increase in testosterone level or not high enough for other effects?  Just because relaxed and confident men and women aren't necessarily hairier.

Hairier than whom? :-)) But I'm sure it would be temporary. No data though. How many subjects, controls, etc.

Adina, this was really helpful. Thanks for sharing this. I often find it difficult to get people to take me seriously at work and I sometimes wonder if it's because I don't project confidence in my body language. I'm going to work on my 'power pose' in my office and see if it helps :)
