This is a great demonstration of how quickly blood reacts to snake venom: http://youtu.be/4WvnjCkLbvY  [No animals are used in this demo, other than having a snake bite into the rubber lid of a glass container.]  It's good to know they have a vaccine for dogs that buys them some time (slows down the coagulation process) so you can get them to a vet. Too bad they don't have this for humans who live/work/play in rural areas.

Wow that's crazy!  There aren't very many venomous snakes around here, thankfully.  The snakes I've been seeing lately are harmless tiny brown snakes (they're about the size of an earthworm and eat slugs!)
