I asked this in Raw Foods too as we do raw and kibble -
My 12 mo old male ALD is 19in to his withers, and weight is 34 lbs. My trainer thinks he's the perfect weight, my doggie day care thinks he's too skinny. He's healthy, has a lot of energy, he eats well, and does not act ravenous. Opinions?

It's impossible to tell just from the numbers, just like with people. It depends on the frame and the build. If he's healthy, has a lot of energy, doesn't act ravenous but has a good appetite, I'm sure he's fine. But I would not take advice on my dog's weight from the trainer or the daycare; that's not their field of expertise. Your vet is the expert on whether a dog is too lean or too heavy. If you're concerned, check with your vet. I wouldn't worry.
thanks, and we have his 1 yr check-up coming up next week so will be getting the expert's opinion.
Here's a chart that you can use to determine if a dog is at the correct weight: http://www.ktk9.com/body_condition_dog.php
