Lilly is 5 1/2 months old. She eats Canidane all stage food and has since she was weaned. One day I was an idiot and while making homemade chicken soup I put some on her food. Well that was it and now she wants it on all her food. I have been boiling a chicken breast and putting a bit in her meals.

Will this hurt her food wise, not spoiled rotten wise:)

Hurt her? I think it will make her one of the healthiest of doodles. Spoiled? Yes.

Won't hurt her at all. I do it frequently, as do many other FG members. Fresh foods are good for her.

Some guidelines for using fresh meats as food"toppers":

Never give them to the dog anywhere but in her food dish at meal times. I prepare the meat, chicken, etc. in the work area of the kitchen, but then bring it to the bowl, rather than bringing the bowl to the food preparation area of the kitchen. This helps keep the dog from developing a habit of hanging around underfoot while you are preapring food, looking for treats and possibly counter-surfing. (And never give the food directly from your own plate, at least not in view of the dog.)

Cut the chicken (or beef, or whatever) up into teeny tiny pieces, This helps with any digestive issues that may arise from mixing fresh food with kibble.

Remove all skin and visible fat, and when using ground meat as a topper, drain the grease thoroughly and strain under hot water.

And of course, no salt or seasonings.

thank you..I am doing this right..:)
