I just bought my first bag of Canidae on Tuesday and have been very excited about switching Timbow to it rather than using Purina. After doing a lot of research on dogfoodanalysis.com and other similar websites I felt like this was a great decision. It still might be a great decision, but I just googled Canidae and found a lot of websites full of people angry about a formula change? I had no idea of such change and people are saying that their dogs have gotten very sick from it. Has anyone heard this? Did I buy Timbow's food too soon?? I really don't want to see him get sick, I just want a great food for him!

There was talk even here on DK about a formula change, awhile back. You can search for Canidae in the search box at the top right corner. But IMO it is better than Purina.

I never used Canidae, but there is a forum that tells you how many people are using which type of dog food, etc...
You can go to " DK Doodles are eating good!! The food group's commercial food survey" It looks like some people are using Canidae.....

The Canidae formula change took place about a year ago, maybe longer. A lot of people were upset because that's all their dogs ate, and the dogs had a little trouble adjusting to the new food.
When your dog is accustomed to a variety of foods, that doesn't happen.
Canidae is a fine food, it will not make Timbow the least bit sick. Start by mixing the new food into the Purina at about 25% of the total, and increase the canidae over a week's time as you decrease the purina, until he's eating just the Canidae. He will be fine.

Thank you so much. I got nervous because he got sick tonight after eating, but I think he just ate too fast. Then I found all of the complaints. We're probably going to start mixing it with Taste of the Wild in the next couple of months too.(we're waiting because he still eats a lot right now since he's just short of 6 months and totw is more expensive.) I will make sure that my purina/canidae mix is right for now(I'm so ready to be done with purina, I may have put too much Canidae). These doodles truly are our little babies! I really appreciate everyone helping..I feel like a new mom! ha! :)
