I have been looking for something for Quincy to chew on that will last more than a few seconds. I've come across rawhides and such that say they are a product of Canada or US but are actually made in Colombia or Brazil. Does anyone know if these are a better alternative to Chinese made stuff, we are trying to avoid that.
Well, so much for the safety of treats from Brazil. I know nobody in this group would feed these anyway, but:
Spetember 4, 2010
Pet Food Safety Recall: Hartz Mountain Corp (Secaucus, NJ) recalls 8-ounce bags of Hartz Naturals Real Beef Treats for Dogs (lot code BZ0969101E; UPC number 32700-11519), due to possible Salmonella contamination. The bags were imported from a supplier in Brazil and have been distributed across the United States.
I don't know.... I don't use rawhides.... But not only for rawhides, just because their food regulations may be different from US, I would caution using pet food from another country.... Not that the quality may be bad, but the regulation may be different, allowing certain types of chemicals and/ or levels of chemicals, etc.... also the view on pet / pet food may be different as well.... Other country may not value the need for quality food for pets / animals......
