Has anyone heard of these. Any comment? It says it's just a beef bone. That's the ingredient list. Bought at PetSmart. Made in USA on the bag. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the product. I looked it up and found a lot of rawhide products and a smoked beef bone, but I'm not sure which one you purchased.

Do you have a picture or a link?

This blog pretty much sums up my feelings about Dentley's products and most of the other treats and chews sold in the big box stores like PetSmart:

As mentioned in the article, "made in USA" doesn;t mean sourced in USA.

I feel much more comfortable with companies that offer full disclosure of their sourcing on their websites.

Good, interesting article. Here is a picture of the packaging. It says it's just a bone, not rawhide. I gave it to Finn but I may have to steal it back when he's not looking.

I don't see a picture. :)

Let's try this again! It helps if I actually attach it.

I tried looking it up with this info and still can't really tell much about it. But their filled bones contain some really bad artificial coloring agents, and apparently have been recalled for mold, which make me just feel uncomfortable with the company.

You can buy plain old beef femur bones at the meat counter of the grocery store, and that would really be safer, not to mention cheaper. We have lots of info here in TFG about them.

Thanks. Never thought about buying from the butcher. Good idea. I saw their filled bones, yuck! Just wanted a plain bone. I think I'll throw this one away and get one from the butcher, and boil the meat off it. Don't want that mess in the house. Thanks for the info.
Ok. So I threw away the Dentley's that I bought. I then bought a package of marrow bones from the grocery (only $1.40) but now I'm reading online to not cook them, to give them to him raw. That just sounds so gross and I don't want that grease in my house or on Finn's face or paws. What to do? Or what is the best bones to buy?? Thanks.

We have pages and pages of discussions about this here. It's perfectly fine to cook them. Do you know how to search the Food Group discussions?

But hopefully you got BIG ones, like this:

I will add a note about the importance of the size of the femurs. We had the 1 1/2" long one first, Yogi got it stuck on his lower jaw, it was scary. Shortly after, someone else here on DK posted that their doodle had the same thing happen to them. So it is important to get the longer ones. Yogi and Maci love them. I boil them, remove almost all the marrow, then give them the bone on a couple blankets spread out in the room with us so I can keep an eye on them. I think these and antlers are the best... So do my doods ;-)
