We are getting our puppy this Thursday and reading a lot of different information on this site and elsewhere.  One item I read was not to give puppy a dish of food until it is trained and only feed it the daily measured amound through the use of stuffed chew toys.

Does/has anyone done this?  Thoughts/opinions?

Thanks,

Just so you know where I sourced this information, here is the original link. Again not advocating one method over another here... http://www.dogstardaily.com/training/errorless-chewtoy-training

not arguing, nor agreeing, with the point - just pointing out the various opinions out there.
We deal with facts here, not opinions. As I said, that's the purpose of this group. People are confused enough with all the misinformation and misguided opinions out there. Since the dog food recalls of 2007, in which thousands of dogs died, including the beloved poodle belonging to one of this group's administrators, people want and deserve facts. It has never been more difficult to wade through all the information about what to feed your dog than it is today. I myself started this group after I was given someone's "opinion" on one of those websites "out there" that my doodle's immune system disease was caused by his diet. It wasn't, and if I had listened to those "opinions", he might very well be dead now.
Nutrition is based on science and facts and not on opinions.
We fed Peri using a bowl starting on Day 1. I did put some kibble in a kong when I put her in her crate. Added a treat or two - she thought is was a game. That is the only time I made her "work" for her food.
I make her sit before she eats.
Good grief, I've never heard of this! I have read the other responses and it looks as though you have received some good advice. Good luck with your puppy!
