What are these strange objects? Read on...

Yesterday, I went to a small pet supply store that is known in our area for selling higher end premium foods & treats that are made in the U.S., many of then locally. I came upon the above objects, which were very large and very inexpensive. About a foot long, a few inches thick, $2.95! It looked like some type of rawhide to me, and had no odor at all! The sign on the bin said U.S. made, all natural, so I put one in my cart. At the checkout counter, I asked what it was.
It's a beef trachea.
I know, your first instinct is Ewwwww! But honestly, it's dry like rawhide, with no odor. They are made in the U.S. and loaded with glucosamine & chondroitin. All natural, no chemicals. Here is the best part: It took Jackdoodle 40 minutes to finish it, and he really worked those teeth the whole time! No mess left on the floor either. It had no effect on his digestive system whatsoever. This is a dog who rips through a $30 bully stick in under 10 minutes! I am ecstatic!
The brand I bought was Bravo...here's a link, but you can find them all over the internet, some cheaper. Just make sure the ones you choose are American made.

Thanks, Jane. I rarely buy bully sticks because Jack goes through them so quickly; the one that cost $15 was enormous, about three feet long, and he still made mincemeat of it very quickly. We have better luck with the tendons, like Flossies, and now the tracheas.
But your recommendation is a good reference for others who buy bully sticks.
I recently received an order of Bravo beef tracheas from Robbinspetcare. Each time I give him one he's a little aprehenvsive and whines a bit. Then after a while he settles into it. I'm wondering whether his gums are sore when he bites into and how good that is. Has anyone had that same problem with their doodle?
I had a poodle who whined when she got a bone, and then walked around with it for a while, as if she were looking for a place to hide it; she'd set it down in one place, go back and move it somewhere else...you get the picture. She wouldn't settle down and start chewing it until some time had passed. I chalked it up to some kind of instinct, lol.
A dog whose gums are sore enough to hurt him when he chews a hard object has a major dental problem. I doubt that's the case with your dog, unless he's teething. Does he whine when he gets other chew objects or treats?
No, he never whines with other chews and he's beyond theething, he's 2.. He acts pretty much like your poodle, even trying to hide it in the couch. I've noticed this behavior with this last batch of tracheas. (I break them in half, so he's had about 4 so far). He didn't do this with the previous order. Maybe they were processed differently. Anyway, once he's into it, he devours it.
