Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Several months ago our 11 year old Mini Schnauzer was found to have elevated liver enzymes (sorry for the non-doodle question). The vet discovered gallbladder issues at that time and she's been on Royal Canin gastrointestinal formula. I'm not a fan, but could not find anything else available that was comparable in terms of the low level of fat. A recheck of her gallbladder issues found protein in her urine as well as very dilute urine. As she doesn't have the symptoms of Cushing's, the vet suspects early stage renal failure and I'm wondering about trying the Rayne kidney formula. Anyone used any of their foods?

I haven't used Rayne's products, but they are highly recommended. Really the best quality Rx food out there, and the prices do reflect that. If you can afford it, I wouldn't hesitate to try it.

Our dermatologist recommends it.  I considered it, but ended up finding something else that worked.  It is pricey but if I were in your shoes I wouldn't hesitate it you can afford it.

I would love to but even for our little 12 lb schnauzer, a month's supply will run about $150. I'm not sure that's sustainable in the long run especially given the cost of her vet bills. Not sure it would be worth to switch to have to switch her back to something else if we couldn't maintain it. Love her to pieces, she is my baby, but her geriatric vet bills are killing us. Sigh...
