Today around 3:00 my Luna (7 months old) who is a table surfer decided to eat a flat plastic bread clip.  I'm about 80% sure that she swallowed it - I still have not found it on the floor.  She seems to be acting fine.  She has been drinking and even went #2.  It was a very soft stool but yesterday was a training day and I was heavy on the treats.  So, I'm used to seeing soft stools following a training session.  She has not eaten any dinner yet but this normal.  She's napping now so I will try to get her to eat a little when she wakes up.

How concerned should I be?  {Im a bit of a wreck}

I'm watching her like a hawk and will go to emergency vet if needed.

Are we talking about those small plastic squares with the hole in them that come on the bread when you buy it?

Like this?

yes......she seems fine.  She has eaten dinner since my original post and also gone #2

She should be fine. It's non-toxic and small, it should pass fairly easily. Just keep an eye on her and as long as there's no vomiting, she should be fine.

I agree.

thank you!

Oh my, thank you for easing my mind.  No vomiting or regurgitation thus far.

By the way, the food that finally worked for Luna (remember she ate the string some time ago) is Dr Garys Best Breed the working dogs formula. I'm still giving the Proviable.

Thanks again!

So, we had a long night.  Around midnight Luna started to vomit - A LOT!!!  She also had very watery stools about once every 45 - minutes to an hour.  She was starting to cough like attempting to get something out.  I freaked out about 2 am and got dressed to take her to the emergency clinic.  As I was getting ready she jumped on my bed and vomited again.  This time the small white clip came out - YEAH!  She seemed exhausted and just wanted to sleep so I decided to sleep with her on the sofa.  She still got up every hour to have a watery stool.  The last time she went out was at 4 am.  We have now made it 5 hours with no vomiting or stool.

Do you think we are in the clear now?

Provided that that one clip was the only inappropriate thing she ingested, she should be fine now.

Amazing how strongly her body reacted to that one little piece of plastic. :)

UPDATE:

Luna is still continuing to have watery diahrrea throughout the day.  It seems to get worse at night.  Last night she went at 3am and 6am and both times were immediatly followed by vomit.

Monday - Seemed normal aside from watery diahrea about every 5 hours.  Around midnight watery diahrhea about every hour until 4am.

She is eating pretty well.  I did start to mix a little of the hills prescription food with her normal food.  This has helped her to want to eat.  Otherwise she turns her nose up.

I ran out of proviable on Sunday.  I pulled out the last foil pack in the box and there was only one pill left.  Could this be the problem???  I do have the provialbe ordered but it hasnt arrived yet

I did call the vet and she has an appointment tomorrow at 4:45.  At this point I'm not feeding her anything until around 3:00 this afternoon.

I think the vet visit is a good idea. Please keep us posted.
