Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
i just heard back from Champion foods about feeling the ALS forumlas to puppies and she said we recommend feeding 1.5 times the adult amount.
The adult amount is 1 1/4 for her weight, and i just dont seem to get it!
I'm about to call my old math teacher :S

The problem here is that half of 1 1/4 cup is 5/8 of a cup, and that's hard to measure, lol. I would just go up or down by one-eighth, maybe go up at one feeding and down at the other.
So...one and a half times the adult serving would be one and a quarter cups plus either a half cup or three quarters of a cup extra, which means you would feed one and three quarters cups or two cups, or alternate between the two from one meal to the next. Feeding guidelines are just that, guidelines, and not meant to be exact. You still need to adjust the amounts for your individual dog.
Hope this helps.
right now shes eating 1 cup in the morning then 1/4 cup for lunch and 1 cup for dinner. So shes eating 2 1/4 a day. Am i over feeding her then?
right now she is 23.5 pounds at 16 weeks
Oops, my explanation was for the day's total amount: one and three quarter cups to two cups per day, so I should have said to divide that by three meals. It would be roughly two-thirds of a cup per meal.
It does sound like you might be overfeeding her a little bit, but she's very young and growing, so if she eats all the food you're giving her and has a good appetite, you're probably fine.
btw thank you for explaining that to me, you acually made it understandable:) lol
