FYI, TOTW has a new Puppy formula in Pacific Stream and Wetlands. In a moment of concern for BB who has been on the ALS PS formula since 9 weeks of age, I contacted them requesting info on whether or not their formula's are still ALS (P.S. and Wetlands are now only certified as "maintenance" on their website). I asked if they reformulated the original formulas in an e-mail and received a response back. While I'm not supposed to copy it (as per their disclaimer at the bottom) here is the gist:
It has not been reformulated, and the labeling was changed because the launch of the Pacific Stream Puppy formula. They have reaffirmed that the Pacific Stream is still an appropriate choice for puppies and my puppy will not be harmed by the fact that I fed this diet during his growth months. The new puppy formula has added more fiber and doubled the amount of prebiotics because puppies experience more frequent digestive upset than adults and higher fiber can help prevent minor upsets. In addition, salmon oil was added as an additional source of DHA.
Finally, BB has been a bit itchier than normal, and I think it is dry skin due to the heat in our house (it does feel rather dry). I have been thinking of adding a capsule of Fish Oil or EPA to supplement his diet. I know some foods require this more than others, but they seem to be highly lauded here on DK and I thought I might try it. Anyone see any issue with that?

I am eagerly awaiting answers. Tangie is on TOTW Wetlands and we are getting a lot of itching as well. It did seem to start prior to the TOTW change, but I thought the grain free might alleviate some of the itching. I hope some wisdom comes though, Carla, for both of us.
Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids in the right proportions (and the right kinds) do help reduce inflammation, dry skin, and itchiness, and improve coats.
The 6:3 ratio in most of the TOTW formulas are not optimal for this, and so we recommend that you supplement with fish oil or EPO (evening primrose oil) if you are feeding TOTW exclusively.
EPO is contraindiciated for dogs that have seizure disorders. If your dog has ever had a seizure, do not use it.
Fish oil is safe for most dogs but may cause loose stools, so go slow until you see how your dog does with it.
