So I had to switch Charlie (4.5 months) from Great Life grain-free to Fromm Puppy Gold because Great Life was too rich on his tummy and he always had diarrhea.
Well, over the past day, I noticed his stools were starting to get runny. What's odd is that they always appear normal in the morning but are horrible in the evening. Tonight, he had the worst diarrhea I had ever seen. Poor guy :(
He has been on Fromm for about a week now. I feed him 2.5 cups daily and he has two servings. I always mix pumpkin into his food to help with digestion. But now this is just worrying me. What should I do???

Samantha, have you had a fecal test done? I would have asked in your earlier discussion, but you said the stools were better now. This sounds like a parasite issue to me.
He was just at the vet on 9/20 for a booster shot and everything was fine. I mean his stool was fine all week and it just started getting bad again...
But did the vet run a fecal test?
On that day, yes.
Just another reminder: "Richness" in food refers to fat content. Usually, when someone says a food is "too rich", what they actually mean is that the food is too complex, i.e., it has too many different ingredients or protein sources. I have found that this is a term that breeders often use, but it is not correct.
Also, a brand of food cannot be "too rich"...only a particular formula. Every brand has dozens of formulas which vary greatly. if one doesn't work for your dog, it is not necessary to switch brands completely; look at another formula within the same brand. Try a grain-free, or a limited ingredient formula, or a different protein source, or a higher or lower protein food.
But if it were parasites, wouldn't he have diarrhea 24/7? It's not like that.
Not necessarily. You really need to get a fecal test done to be sure that there is not a parasite or bacterial issue going on. Something is preventing the stool from forming normally. A puppy with a healthy GI system would not be having diarrhea from food, especially since it's happened with more than one food. And intestinal parasites are unfortunately very common in doodle puppies.
Also, giardia can be hard to diagnose. The cysts are not always present in every sample, so it's best if you can bring in more than one.
Ok, I'll give the vet a call tomorrow. So should I bring in more than one stool sample? If they want to see him tomorrow, I'll only be able to bring in one sample from the morning.
I'm reading up on giardia. Can contaminated water cause this? I ask because at the dog park the other day, he drank water that did not look good at all and I couldn't catch him in time.
