Oliver is on TOTW Bison flavor and Sasha is on Wellness chicken.  I bought a bag of salmon/fish TOTW for Oliver and was wonder if I have to transition him.  I have been for the past couple of days and now the bison flavor is gone and he loves the salmon.  The has been no problems and the poops are good.  I wanted to change flavors for Sasha as well on the next bag and was just wondering if anyone else transitions when switching flavors.

When rotating "flavors" within the same brand for an adult dog with no digestive issues, you don't have to transition. You can just switch. Usually, you will have a little of something left when you buy your next bag, so mixing them is not a problem, either.

I use Acana grain free and just switch the varieties cold turkey so to speak with no problems at all.

I was rotating flavors with Sadie (Blue Buffalo Wilderness) and had no issues until this week, when I tried the salmon, which gave her diarrhea. So I've been feeding her a chicken/rice/pumpkin mixture until her poops are a little better, and I got a smaller bag of the "old" flavor that I'm planning to try to transition her with more gradually. She doesn't have any other symptoms--her energy and appetite are just fine--so I'm going to wait a few days before worrying enough to take her to the vet.

I feed Beckett Fromm food. I switch flavors every bag and I never transition. :)

There are four of the TOTW flavors that we give Bridget. Since she began it at 9 weeks old, we juggle two flavors at a time. Then we switch out the next go around with the other two flavors. She has never had a problem since day one. :-)

Thanks for your help everyone :)
