so my dogs are on acana regionals line. When I went to pick a new bag today at Hollywood Feed, noticed that they had The Honest Kitchen singles for .99 (end of a promotion, they were 3.99/cup).
I don’t want to switch them off Acana (but may need to later if price keeps going up). That said, can I offer them the Honest Kitchen cup as a weekly wet dog food treat?

Sure, you can use any commercial raw food for an occasional meal, just as you could give canned food. However, you need to check the calorie content of a cup; it's likely that it is less than that of one cup of kibble, so you will possibly have to feed more than one cup, even for one meal. In other words, you probably can't just substitute one HK cup for a cup of kibble.
I can tell you that feeding Honest Kitchen exclusively is going to cost more than feeding any Acana formula, no matter how much the prices may go up.
I found the calorie content of one HK singles cup on chewy. For the Chicken formula, it's 334 calories. One cup of the Acana Meadowlands (poultry based) formula has 396 calories, so the HK is about 17% less calorie dense. You might be able to make that up by feeding slightly more kibble at the other meal of the day.
Thanks! The price at Hollywood Feed seemed like a good deal. This won’t be a permanent every week treat, because while Acana is not cheap, Honest Kitchen is crazy expensive, lol.
Right now Luna is on her full portion of kibble plus a 1/2 portion of Fromm grain-free canned food O_O talk about expensive... It's about $30/week for the Fromm alone. It's ok we're spoiling her rotten while she's still feeling pretty good :)
Yeah, the canned foods are mega expensive. But it's nice to hear that sweet Luna is being spoiled. :)
We had to cut back on the spoiling a bit because we started feeding her at the table and she started getting very rude LOL. Spoiling at other times continues though. :)
LOL, no feeding from the table! Or the work area of the kitchen! I'm struggling with the puppy underfoot already!
Well we thought "hey, she only has a couple weeks left, her manners don't matter!"... it's been 6 weeks now, her manners DO matter. I don't want a paw on my leg the entire time I'm eating dinner!
My feelings exactly.
