I think this is an easy question. I think Maggie is tired of her food. She's been eating the same thing for a long time, and she's kind of blah on it. She's my most reluctant eater anyway.

She's eating Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Boost Beef. She's much more interested in the other girl's Fromm Whitefish and Potato. For Maggie's next bag of food should I just try the Instinct Raw Boost Chicken? Or should I transition her over to Fromm with the other two? She's done very well on what she's eating, she just doesn't want to eat it.

I'm thinking the Instinct Chicken, but at the same time it would be so easy if they all ate the same thing. The Fromm has grains, the Natue's Variety doesn't. The Nature's Variety is significantly higher calorie. I know I'm overthinking, but her next bag of food is going to auto ship, so I have to decide.

As usual, thanks!

I'm a stickler for not offering them the food at a later time if they don;t eat at the regular meal time. I'm thinking you may not have had time to read that link I gave above, because this is all spelled out there. Please do try to read it, it's really very informative.  :)
They need to learn that food is only available at specific times of the day and if they want to eat, they need to do it then. It usually doesn;t take very long for them to catch on...IF you are consistent with it.

In keeping with this, I would not give him more at dinner. You want hm to be hungry enough in the morning to eat his food.
One question: does someone keep him company at breakfast? And do you keep distractions to a minimum at that time? Those things are crucial for dogs who are reluctant to eat at breakfast. Again, these things are all discussed in that linked discussion.
There was a couple in Jasper's last obedience class with a 9 mo old doodle puppy who didn;t want to eat breakfast. When I asked if someone sat and kept him company, the answer was "I don;t have time for that, I have to get ready for work."
I didn;t say this to her, but I'll say it here. Make the time. It's only 10 minutes. Have some coffee or breakfast yourself. And keep distractions like people from coming in and out of the room, calling out from other rooms, kids playing nearby, etc. to an absolute minimum.
When all else fails:

Thanks Stacy and Karen for the responses and advice.  I read the first post and your initial response but haven't had a chance yet to read the whole thread.  I'll definitely do so.  I typically get down with just him in the morning and he has 10 quiet minutes to eat before I get my kids down.  He has company (me) and no distractions.  He is pretty lazy in the morning, he would gladly sleep in on our floor until 8 or 9am.  I try and head down with him by 7:15am and let him out to pee and then get him breakfast before my kids come down at 7:30am.  Often when he comes back in from potty he just collapses on the floor eyeing what I'm doing.  With the chicken and rice he immediately pops up when I put the bowl down.  In the past when it was kibble he would just stay down.  I'm just going to try and wait the prince out.  If he doesn't eat so be it...

Thanks again for all the help and I'll post back if I have questions after reading the other thread.
