Home-style boarding or training? Any ideas. First time leaving our dog. Please help.

Hi everyone.

Going away in July for a month. We'd love to leave Charlie somewhere for home-style boarding/training. Any recommendations? Or even any recommendations for home-style boarding. Anything please!!! I don't know where to leave him for 30 days, and the idea of standard boarding (being in a run alone all day) is kinda freaking me out. It's our first time leaving him, so I'm very new to this. Please help.

I hear you there! I would FREAK leaving Spike for a week let alone a month in a run type kennel. There's three dogs that I'm close with that have all spent kennel time and come back with behavior issues.

I'd take him in a heartbeat for you however I work full time and live at home. My retired Dad has his handful already with our hoover named Spike.

Do you have any family members you could leave him with?

Another option.. check with your vet. Maybe they can point you to someone who does home care. Of course there are a lot of people on here who might be able to help too

Hi I live in mississauga and know of a great trainer/boarder. Check out his web site. if you have anymore questions let me know. Good luck I hope this information helps you out.

Hi, i have another boarder/trainer which I have used for my Daisy. She is excellent too! Here is her website.

Hi, Crosby's trainer does boarding as well. He has a few dogs which will keep Charlie company. Crosby boards there now and then, for refresher training and play.

Trainer's name is Bryan Coulton (647) 688-5992. He came to our house to pick Crosby and then drop him off afterwards. Part of his service. You can ask if he will board Charlie as he does it for his students.

BTW, we are in Bayview/Finch area, if you are close by, we can arrange for the doodles to play.

We're near the Danforth. Sounds great!

Hello everyone. Thanks so much for all your ideas. I will keep them noted for when we return and need to take him to training. As for boarding while we're on vacation we ended up finding a wonderful lady through Dogvacay.com. She is such a dog lover, has a huge fenced backyard, and has two dogs and cat who will be keeping Charlie busy. Never heard of the site before but it's awesome and I really recommend it.
