Hotel in Chicago Needed!

Later in August, my husband, daughter and her boyfriend and I are going to be traveling from Rochester, NY to Douglas, Wyoming by car.  Are we crazy??? We plan to stop in Chicago and Omaha overnight to break up the trip. We have friends that we are going to be staying with in Omaha and Douglas, but need a hotel that accepts dogs in Chicago.  Anyone have any suggestions?  I thought I'd check with you all first before I did any other research, since I trust you will have the best advice!

I live in the south suburbs so I haven't needed to look for pet friendly hotels here, but there are a couple of websites for just this purpose to help in your research.

You might try the Westin in downtown Chicago. Westin is part of the Starwood Properties and they have been known to allow dogs. Some have restrictions on the size/weight so you would have to check. I stayed there three years ago and I remember seeing a dog water bowl at the entrance door to the lobby which leads me to believe that dogs are welcome. It is a very nice and convenient hotel and the city is beautiful! I stayed in the Westin Michigan Avenue. There are Sheratons which are also Starwood Properties so they may also take dogs. I put in dates just to get the information on the hotels. The prices are not necessarily correct. Am not familiar with Chicago, but have used Dogfriendly.com to find hotels previously. One thing I would recommend if your dog is a "barker", is to ask for a room at the far end of the hallway. That way you won't have people walking past your room and talking until late in the evening. That was the problem we had with Lucy and Sophie when we last stayed. As soon as everyone got in their rooms for the night and it was quiet, all was fine but until then they had to bark at every person walking down the hall.

Thanks for suggesting to ask for a room at the end of the hall. I would have never thought of that!
