We are planning a road trip through northern California and Oregon. We'll be coming from Utah, so we'll be going through Tahoe on our way to Sacramento and San Francisco, before heading north along the coast or I-5 to Portland. If you've traveled in any of these areas, please offer any ideas or suggestions for dog-friendly places to visit (parks, beaches, hotels, etc). Thanks!

Fort Funston ,a great doggy beach park in SF,
Mochi was just there this Sunday for his friend's birthday party.

When we visited Diane and Alma in Sacramento, we stayed in Lake Natoma Inn
Check out this website for dog friendly hotels and restaurants. http://www.bringfido.com/
Usually after I found one that I like, I looked it up on yelp.com to make sure dog owners wrote good reviews about the place.

When are you planning to come? It'll be great if we can meet each other!
Thank you very much for those tips. I've put them down in my travel notes.
We'll be making the trip middle of June (not sure exact dates yet).
Portland is VERY dog friendly... there's a website for dog friendly lodging in Portland: http://www.portlandpooch.com/directory/lodging.htm

Let us know when you'll be down there...we go sometimes and maybe we can have a romp!
That's good to know that Portland is dog friendly because we are looking into moving to that area. After we stop in Portland, we'll be heading east on Interstate 84/Highway 30 along the Columbia River on our way up to Coeur d'Alene to visit my in-laws, so we'll be passing your way near Walla Walla! I would love to meet you and Clark and others at a doodle romp! That would be great for Muppet to get some play and exercise after riding in the car for hours and hours. When I get specific dates, I'll let you know so we can try to make it happen. That would be so fun!
