Modern Family is my very favorite....summertime we don't watch much TV though Doodle takes up all of our previous free time, which is a good thing.

We do like to watch Dateline and 48 hours though.

I didn't watch Modern Family early on and never got into it, though the shows I've seen have been funny.  Maybe in a few seasons I'll start from the beginning on Netflix or Roku.

My favorite shows on regular TV are Brothers and Sisters, Parenthood and Modern Family. My favorite shows on HBO/Showtime are Dexter, Shameless, Curb your Enthusiasm, Weeds, Nurse Jackie and the Big C.

The shows I watch the most now during the summer are the local and national news : ) I tell people OK I feel like being depressed, I'm going to watch the news. I did start the new Masterpiece theater Zen but so far I'm not overly impressed despite it's great reviews. I don't get HBO or premium channels. I decided my cable, internet, cell phone and phone combined bill was quite enough. I can always watch a whole season on DVD later on if I want to.

We have pretty much converted completely to Netflix and Roku (on which we watch Netflix on Demand and Hulu Plus) for watching TV shows.  I think the only network show I watch as it is aired is The Bachelor or The Bachelorette (my guilty junk tv pleasures).

 

Via Netflix and Roku we've enjoyed/currently enjoy (in no particular order):

• Arrested Development -- LOVE LOVE LOVE that show and was so sad I didn't discover it until after it was taken off the air. 
• Weeds
• Psych
• Monk
• Curb Your Enthusiasm
• House, MD
• United States of Tara
• Glee (though I've mostly quit watching that...it's started to bore me)
• Breaking Bad
• The Office (British version)
• Freaks and Geeks

When I did watch network TV I loved The Office and Scrubs --- but it's been a while and I feel too far behind now that I haven't watched.  I prefer watching DVDs (or Roku) to get my tv shows rather than watching them as they air because on TV there's no 'pause' button and I HAVE to be ready on time or miss parts.  I also like it better than watching movies on DVD simply because tv shows are a shorter time commitment than a movie.  But when I have time I can watch several in a row when it's an exciting one!

TIVO is our answer to being able to watch network TV.
