NEW MEMBERS...READ THIS FIRST!
WELCOME to the Welcoming Committee...teehee!
UPDATE:We are getting more and more members all the time---which is wonderful! I do my best to welcome everyone and I think I've been successful...but it's harder and harder to keep up in a timely manner. My goal is that EACH NEW member be greeted by at least 4 people besides me. When you have time...say hello to someone new. All you have to do is click on the "Members" tab and explore. The list is defaulted to list the newest members first, so you can easily see who has joined in the last day. New members joining also appear in the Latest Activity on the front page.
Maybe someone doesn't know about a group they could join. If I'm not the first person to say hello, they might need a link to our Welcome New Members note--I give it to them when I welcome them but if I'm not around someone hopefully will. But if you give links, please learn how to make them clickable links =)
Maybe you notice a bunch of people all from a certain state without a group...let me know and I'll try to connect them or check with them to see if they'd like to form a group.
There are some people who truly prefer to lurk...or just be part of a directory and not be active. That's okay too...so I don't want to be pushy either. I just want to encourage participation--sometimes all a person needs is a little "hello" from a sincere & friendly person =)
You can usually tell if someone wants to lurk or be silent if they have MANY hellos on their comment page but when you look at their activity at the top of their page they have not been back since they joined and have not responded to anyone.
And DO NOT overwork yourselves =) By that I just mean I want this to be sincere and not feel like a job or anything you get "burned out" on. You don't have to work through 15 people all in one swoop! (well...unless you want to ;-))
Look for people you might have something in common with or who have a cute doodle (well that's everyone! LOL) or whatever sparks your interest!
And most of all...have fun!

P.S. You do NOT have to make "friends" with everyone or have a public profile...that is up to you.
ALSO please no marketing/promotion of your service/business when welcoming members. Your page may contain all the promotion you want, but not in your comments messages to new members -
