Anyone with a puppy that started lab like then doodled out!?

Gwen is 5 months old this week! She is still an absolute sweetheart, although the crazy puppy side is there! Her hair is looking to be whispy  now in places. Her tail has a waved look to it now too. I've also noticed random white hairs here and there on her besides the patches she has on her chest and feet. She has started to grow a little beard on both sides of her chin, it's pretty funny.  

When did your shorter coat doodles start to really change?

Gwen is so cute.  

Apart from color; her body size, shape and hair length are a LOT like my Gunnar.  He is 4 months old this week, so I can't tell you how Gwen will turn out.  He is at 33 pounds so we are probably going to have a 65 pound dog when fully grown.

 He has a whispy blonde top coat as well and has some curls on his tail, but the rest of his coat is mostly straight.  You can see it really good in this picture.  

He doesn't have full facial furnishings but his slight mustache and beard give him a dignified older dog look, like in my avatar picture.

I personally think the slightly shaggy slim built lab look is just as cute as the enormously doodled out goldendoodles that seem more common.

He is adorable! They do have similar coats, except your guy has awesome hair on his head! Gwen is a little shaggy everywhere except her head! It's completely short and smooth. She is getting some longer hairs under her eyes and like I said her chin. It's fun to see what they end up looking like! I would be thrilled with a shaggy doodle!

I am not an expert on the exact age a doodle gets facial furnishings or a fluffy coat, but I think Gwen probably looks much like she will look as an adult; basically a smaller/slimmer version of a lab.  I love her rich black color, white chin and chest, and her expressive eyes.

I think you could be right. I've heard some say that their doodle's hair started growing longer at closer to a year so maybe she will at the least become shaggy! Her black coat and sweet eyes are what made me look past the fact that she was not likely to be the typical doodle look I was wanting. That and her ears! lol
