Strange coat!

This is my 9-month-old pup, Hudson.  His coat is so weird to me! He is obviously more retriever-looking, but he has some kooky eyebrows and a pretty long beard. He has long "wings" on his cheeks ( they've grown out from when he was younger), but the hair around his nose hasn't filled out.  He had a stripe of hair that was wavier that went down his back, but it seems to be gradually going away (starting from his tail).  I think his hair will probably stay shorter (it's very straight), but the stripe down his back makes him look a bit strange! And yes, he sheds. A lot. 

Does anyone have a pup whose coat was close to this?  We think he's the cutest...just confused re his coat. :)

Oh, I think he's pretty doodley looking, and that will increase as he gets older. His coat is a lot like my Jackdoodle's. I can't show you any puppy pictures because i adopted him at 14 months old. Jack also sheds a lot.

Thanks Karen! I like Jackdoodle's coat - and it looks very shiny! I hope Hudson's coat keeps growing, but with all the hair that's falling out, I don't know if it's possible. :)

Our older dog, Fozzie, went through a few very bizarre coat changes as well. He lost most of his coat two times... Looked basically "naked". He is now a gorgeous and fluffy doodle (the white dog in my profile pic). I think all doodles have their own strange coat growth pattern... Every dog is different.

I think Hudson will get more doodle-y. He has doodle facial features that will probably grow in a bit overtime. His puppy pics look so much like my Yogi! Enjoy him.

Thanks Julie! You're so right - their coats vary so much.  I remember seeing Yogi--he's adorable! It looks like he and Fozzie are best buds...very unlike my two - I'd say our older dog "tolerates" Hudson. :)

He looks like a doodle to me!  I love his coat & I have heard (A lot) that the adult coat takes forever to come in & that it changes continually for about the first year.  He's adorable!  He looks like such an inquisitive little guy! :)

Hè our sem had à similor kind of coat. Now hè is almost 6 months and his fur is getting curlier. I thinking his coat Will not be long but really short!
