Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello fellow doodle lovers, I have just joined - I am the proud mummy of Bailey (male) an F2 Goldendoodle - I've uploaded quite a few pics to my page and would love your opinions. I think he is looking very retrieverish but can see he has longer legs, a finer muzzle and long wavy ears. His coat is beginning to shed and there is longer slightly courser hair growing on his back in a strip, I imagine this will work down his body eventually. He is 8 weeks in my profile picture. He is learning fast, and has the most amazing disposition, I think he will be a wonderful addition to our family. :O) have any of you had pups that look like him, am wondering if he will doodle out, can't see any sign of facial furnishings yet. I am a retriever lover as my last beautiful boy was a cream retriever and I was torn whether to have another or go for a doodle. The doodle won purely because of the shedding aspect, but it looks like I may have one that's gonna she and look like a retriever anyhow - still he's gonna be loved to pieces however he turns out. Look forward to hearing your comments, Michelle x

Hi! This is my first time chiming in on DK... your baby is adorable!! I think he could definitely doodle up. Here are pictures of our F1 English Cream doodle who we were convinced was mostly retriever and now she is a full on "shaggy" type of doodle. She sheds like mad but we love her like crazy!

Congrats on your puppy - he is beautiful!

Hi Nic and Sophie, thanks so much for responding, your baby is gorgeous and what a transformation - who'd have thought. So there is a chance Bailey will become shaggy - which is the type of doodle I really love. It's going to be great fun watching him grow, but if he doesn't get shaggy he will still be gorgeous x

Wow! Just saw Sophie. What a change from baby to 15 months. Too cool. If you don't mind me asking how big was Sophie at around 13 weeks and her current weight now. I just weighed Tess. She is 20 pounds at 13 weeks, yikes! I have a 7 year old miniature Yorkie who tips the scales at 6lbs and a Lab who is around 90. However, I remember the lab being  less than 20 lbs at 13 weeks.

Hi Shiva - Tess is beautiful! Sounds like she will be a big girl too.  I am trying to recall Sophie's weight but I believe that she weighted about 28 lbs at 16 weeks - maybe 30 lbs. I just remember calculating that if we double that weight, she should be about 60ish lbs as an adult. She is 16 months now and weighs 60lbs.  I hope that helps a little!

Enjoy Tess! They are such LOVES!

Thanks Nic, that does give me an idea.

Hi Bailey is 17 pounds at 8 1/2 weeks, do you think that is big, small or just right?

Bailey sounds BIG -- AND just RIGHT!!

lol he is eating like a horse :O)

Hi Michelle,

Your cutie Bailey looks alot like my TESS! I think Bailey has more facial hair though. There coat changes so much. Tess has a lot of longer hair too and it is getting wavy on the hind legs. Tess is 12 weeks old in the attachment, just took this last week. They are sweeties! We were told Tess was an F1 Goldendoodle, however I am thinking we may have an F2 Goldendoodle :) But wouldn't trade her. They are so much fun!!!

she looks too cute, were her mummy and daddy both F1 doodles, then she would be an F2.

Her mom was a golden retriever and dad was standard poodle, so she is supposedly an F1.

Bailey is absolutely beautiful!  Doodles are like a box of chocolates, "You never know what you are going to get"!.  Our first Doodle "Sydney" is a 7 and 9 multi-gen Australian Labradoodle (now almost 9 years old).  Everyone we meet thinks she was rescued and is a mut of some kind (they say definitely not a Doodle).  Even when we go to the Doodle Romps, owners wonder what we are doing there with our DOG.  So either the breeder pulled a fast one on us or Sydney came with the recessive sheding and Lab coat gene!  She looks like a mini Bambi.  She has a flat coated muzzle, course hair down her back.  Sydney started shedding at 5 months and has not stopped.  But she is very precious to us.  She loves everyone and everyone loves Sydney.

The good news for you, Doodles' coats can change during the first few years.  It sounds like (even though you wanted a non-shedder, like us), you will love Bailey unconditionally like he will love you!  GoldenDoodles are very beautiful and have wonderful personalities.  We look forward to seeing lots of pictures of Bailey as she grows!
