Where's the Poodle in my Doodle?

This group is for those of us with puppies or dogs who look far more like the Golden or Labrador halves of themselves than the Poodle half. This group is for us to recognize the Poodle traits that shape our dogs while sharing experiences.

I found Doodlekisses searching for "why doesn't my doodle look like a poodle" and this group came up!  It's been an amazing resource ever since.

I love this group. It is so fun to wonder what our puppies coats will end up like. I couldn't find any pictures of dogs that looked like ours, until I came here. Banks is 75% poodle, but looks very retrieverish. He is a sweet boy and we are so in love.

Hi everyone! My puppy is 13 weeks old and absolutely a sweeter puppy than I could have ever imagined. We love her a ton! I'm just curious if she is likely to get a beard/facial fur on her snout or not? Does anyone have puppies that, at 13 weeks didn't have a beard but later grew one? Her father is an f1 goldendoodle and her mother is a 2nd generation double doodle (labradoodle/goldendoodle mix). Right now, she looks like a golden with more hair on her head but not on her snout. Thank you!!

Michelle,

You should also take a look at the pictures of my doodle.  He is almost 10 months old now, but he too is a flat coated F1.  He started with no real facial furnishings and then all of a sudden he started with these little clumps of fur that sort of winged out of his snout.   He has doodled out quite a bit since then....keep us posted!

Michelle, he is adorable.  It will be very interesting to see how his coat develops as he matures.

This is actually the first good picture I have been able to get of his new facial hair, he had to pause after checking out snow for the first time

So it appears our Bo wants to be different than everything I have read saying smooth coated doodles will be void of facial furnishings, or if a doodle shows no evidence of a beard by 8 weeks they wont have one at all.  He will be 4 months old this week, and his beard that had started a couple weeks ago is now half an inch long, and he is also getting long hairs over the top of his muzzle.  I just love his unique look, hes the best :-)
