Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
This group is for those of us with puppies or dogs who look far more like the Golden or Labrador halves of themselves than the Poodle half. This group is for us to recognize the Poodle traits that shape our dogs while sharing experiences.

Welcome, Michelle. I think watching our individual doodles mature and change is such fun - never a guaranteed 'end' result.
Welcome to the group Michelle! Glad you joined us!
Hi everyone! We are new to the page and have had our first goldendoodle Bo for about a week and a half now. This is the perfect group for us as Bo definately favors his Golden retriever papa. He is just now losing all his puppy fuzz and it seems like he is changing every day. We knew when we got him he may not doodle out much, but thats okay, we picked him because he is just the sweetest boy ever! I am a bit suprised that he does seem to be starting a but of a beard, and I feel like it will be exciting to see what his coat does as he gets bigger. Thats all for now, just wanted to introduce ourselves and say hello! :-)
Oh Leslie, Thank you. I do love her already. She is just the sweetest puppy!
Pippa is our new addition and she was chosen because she does look more like a small Golden Retriever. It will be interesting to see what her coat looks like when she blows her puppy coat. Right now she is just a fluffy puppy. I am told she is an F1b. I saw the father who was a moyen poodle at 25 lbs. Her mother lives in a guardian home so I did not get to see her. I saw her picture and was told she is an F1 Goldendoodle. I didn't realize that F1b could also get a throwback look. Out of a litter of 8, 3 of them looked like Pippa but she had the fluffiest coat. Im hoping that means she will be less of a shedder than an actual Golden. If not, thats Ok too.
Julie, Yogi is absolutely adorable!
thanks again, everybody, for your comments about my doodle, yogi! here is an updated pic (that i thought i posted to the comment wall yesterday). sorry if some of you are seeing this twice! fuzzy yogi is now 10 weeks old and a ball of wispy hair. not sure what's going on with his coat (is that a beard coming in?), but he's sure fun to watch. we are in love with our funny looking boy!
I've enjoyed reading about the genetics of canine hair. Genetic anomalies have always fascinated me. My mom's family has a heart condition that women are carriers of while the men are carriers and can present with the condition. However my aunt was found to carry and present due to both of my grandparents being carriers. My aunt was part of a study because of the rarity of women who present.
Anyway back to our doodles, :) having two dogs who look so very different always brings up good dissuasion with folks who think they want a doodle, about how different they can look even within the same litter and that yes, they CAN shed. Most folks don't have a clue how very different unique our doods can be!!
Thanks for the great discussion!
The link has a chart showing the method of genetic inheritance.
