Actually he was a F1b phantom goldendoodle.  His mother was a goldendoodle and his father a phantom poodle so that made him 3/4 poodle.

Actually Groucho Too was a phantom goldendoodle, so you are right on both accounts.  He passed away over two years ago (cancer) and I wanted another phantom goldendoodle but my breeder was not doing them, so I ordered a Sheepadoodle.  Her mother is an Old English Sheepdog and her father a phantom standard poodle.  Groucho Too was a great dog and he had a wonderful coat.  He did not mat and was very easy to groom.  The new puppy is a challenge, but getting better every day.

Phantom poodle or doodle? I've only heard about this coloring! How cool.
