Aww, thanks so much. So glad you like it. xo jackie
Thank you so much! Yes, the black one was a challenge so I used many shades, textures and surface qualities of black glass as well as browns to match the sun reflections shown in the photo. It's amazing how the eye sees "black" when in actually there are hundreds of shades going on!
The entire process took me about 10 weeks with a few days of no work but I stuck (ha a pun) with it pretty hard. If you know anyone interested, I'm always looking for work!
Oh my goodness Jacqueline ~ you are so talented. I love this work of art!
You are doing fine with your responses. Stained glass is a real slow process. Your glass is a very accurate resemblance to the dog. We had a painter do a painting of our dog and your glass turned out much more accurate than the painting of our dog from a photo. Black dogs are hard to photograph and even more difficult to do in glass. Our congratulations.
Love it. But what a labor of love. I do some giclees and my son is a blown-glass artist and my husband a wood artist, so we know what effort goes into these projects. Very nicely done. Did you use some finish?
I created this mosaic for clients on the west coast who saw another Goldendoodle mosaic I did of my own Soleil which I had on ETSY. I had estimated about 10,000 pieces of glass (some are so tiny, I have to use tweezers to place them in) but I underestimated by nearly half!
The clients wanted some orange in the piece (no pun intended, ha) so I put little stylized flowers in the meadow. I use a tiny piece of mirror as the glint in the eye. You'd be amazed at the "life" it gives the subject.
The project took me 10 weeks from start to finish to complete which of course, includes breaks and some normal life but I was pretty glued (ha, another pun) to the project for the duration. I fell in love with Lily and Juneau during the fabrication and it was hard to let it go but the clients are delighted so that's my joy.
