I did not know that about Ft DeSoto.  I take Kramer to Abercrombie a lot.  Most of the people there have their dogs off leash, and there is a beach head at the end of the trail to swim in.  I let Kramer swim there a few times.  The second time we went there were other labs there playing and he was so focused on chasing the other dogs that he didn't realize how far he was into the water and kind of had this "Oh Crap!" moment.  After that, he wouldn't go past his shoulders.

I am hoping Abby grows out of it. I am sure she will. But at Fort Desoto it is one step in and the second step is straight down. The other dogs seem to love it though.

This is in Estero. We were visiting family and decided to take Abby to the beach for the first time. We have been to Fort Desoto, but Abby doesn't like going in the water over her shoulders. She prefers standing in the water to swimming. So she was not a fan of the drop-off after a few steps in the water there.

what beach is this?  have you been to ft. desoto yet?
