You might want to see if any of the other puppy parents in the playgroup would like to make a play date with you and Louie. Before Sadie was old enough for the dog park I had a friend who would bring her dog over to wear Sadie out.

Short, frequent training sessions can also help wear them out. Sadie would love to come help and tells me she wishes we were closer!

Lisa--I have tried holding Louie down many times, but it doesn't seem to do any good. It just makes him more mad and he growls at me and tries to bite me even more. I have been doing short timeouts in his crate, and that seems to work b/c he is calmed down when I let him out. Keep the ideas coming, I need all the help I can get with this puppy! :-)

Becka--Louie is 11 weeks. I sure hope I don't have 6 more weeks of this. :-) Puppy playgroup is only on Saturday mornings, and he has a puppy class on Wednesday nights and a puppy class on Sunday afternoons. Maybe I will see if I can try to find another playgroup. I also take him on 3 good walks every day. Please send Sadie over here to train him. Thanks.

Sadie was over this phase by 17 weeks, I believe, because that was the age at which she was fully vaccinated and we started going to the park every day. How often does he go to puppy playgroup? That sounds like it would tire him out the most, and it does sound like he needs to be tired out more.

Daisy's little sister was doing that, I put her on her back and held her down for maybe 10 seconds and sternly said NO, when I let her up she came running over for attention which is when I picked her up, told her she was a good girl and she was all better....I think they need to be told.

Now, I don't own Bella, but I do watch her some. She is so sweet now, she hasn't done it in a while, she is now 7months old, she was 5 months when she was at her worse.

I sure hope it gets better! I am tempted to sleep in Louie's crate tonight and he can have the run of the house! He is biting my pants legs when I walk, biting my toes, growling at me, etc. When I redirect him or tell him no or ignore him it's almost as if he does it even more! And he is barking and wild! I take him on two 15 minute walks and a 30 minute walk per day but he is still not tired. He is also in two different puppy classes and also goes to puppy playgroup. I'm not sure what else to do? I will definitely look at the nipping/biting thread in Puppy Madness. How long did it take for Sadie to get over this phase?

It gets better, don't worry! I know that for the first month or so that I had Sadie I walked around in a complete fog and my hands and arms were covered in bruises from her nipping. For me the real "cure" for the biting came when we started going to the dog park regularly. Not only did that make her more tired, but I think she learned a lot about bite inhibition from other dogs. Be sure to check out the nipping/biting thread on Puppy Madness if you haven't already. Love the videos and pix--keep them coming!

Love this picture. He looks like he can be quite the little devil when he wants to be--has he started nipping you yet?
