We've had Golden Retrievers for the past 30 years. We also had one litter of 14 Golden Puppies. We currently have a Standard Poodle mix, named Jack, whom we have been told looks like a Golden Doodle (and indeed he does). I am an educator of over 50 years and have been married for 45 years; yes, to the same person! I bring that same love and patience to enjoying our dogs and keeping them healthy and happy. Pics of our dogs, past and present, say all one needs to know about us/me!
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We have an Apricot, Standard Poodle Mix, named Jack, who looks like a Doodle. Jack weighs about 80 pounds and is 2 years old. We call Jack our little "humanoid" because he's the smartest and most intuitive dog we've ever had. When Jack is in public he makes people smile, comment and laugh. He also looks like a big lamb and feels like a cotton ball. Jack's full name is Baby Jack Pumpkin Bass-Berutti. He answers to Jack and Pumpkin. We recently had to put our cats to sleep, both of whom were strays who never left. Our cats were 15 years old and we do miss them. They really learned to love their brother, Jack, because of Jack's pleasant disposition and willingness to play gently with them. All Jack wants to do is please. This is evident in his gentle play with other dogs, his willingness to share his toys and his choosing to follow directions given the first time. Jack is one of a kind and we love and respect him.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Gift from Friend/Relative
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
Jack needed a good home and quite frankly, we were finally ready for another dog. We knew he was unique looking/acting, but quite frankly we didn't know he was a doodle when we got him.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Play. Go to dog beaches and dog parks. Hike. Cuddle. Read. Wrestle. Catch and fetch.
This is the answer to the question below about doodle shedding since none of the choices are applicable. Jack does not shed hair, but everything sticks to him like Velcro. When he comes in the house, he brings all sorts of twigs, leaves, grass and whatever he's rolled in!
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
We brush Jack almost nightly and clean his ears once a week. After going to the beach, he must be washed, as sand sticks to him like glue. Jack is groomed at Fido2 by Lisa Ann who does a superb job.
Favorite Doodle Products?
