If you Google the phone # of the breeder you asked about, (434-446-6754 )you will see a couple of complaints/warnings. I have no idea if they are legitimate, but they do seem to be a red flag. Looks like this breeder moves around quite a bit, has an awful lot of dogs, and operates under a couple of different names. Be sure to look at the contract/warranty very carefully, as well as proof of genetic health testing on the parents.

I have looked into Laurel Ridge a little.  I see you also did.  I had a breeder I felt comfortable with and then her litter was only 4 puppies.  I was not in the top four of her waiting list and now I am frantically searching, because my two boys are devastated.  Have you heard anything about Old Mill Doodles.  It seems more like a dog factory to me with so many dogs.  We are looking for an F1 and they seem to be very hard to find.

Hi Bart,

We got our Elbie from Little Mountain Doodles in Myerstown, PA. It was a great experience and Elbie is a wonderful dog. She's a year and a half now and weighs 50 lbs, which is where our vet thinks she will stay. She loves everyone and is fantastic with children. Hope that helps!

Hi Bart! Welcome to Greater Richmond Area Doodles group! Your dog Honey is beautiful! I hope you will find information here of DK useful. This is a very friendly community and are a great resource. I'm thinking about trying to get together a Doodle Walk in the near future. Although you're an hour away, I hope you and your wife and Honey can make it. I'll be posting information soon in the DISCUSSION section of the GRAD group.

You asked about Laurel Ridge? I would agree with Carol B's assessment. We've had our goldendoodle 6 years this month. We've been very happy. Our dog is very sweet and calm with us. However, despite our best efforts, he goes nuts anytime we have a visitor. He absolutely loves all people. He is impeccably trained when he's with us, but when someone new comes, everything he learned goes right out the window. He will settle down, but it is an ordeal.

Yes, we would. We got their name from a co-worker of my husband's. They got 2 dogs from them. I know Dr Kelly is a vet (a plus), and is busy with that (I seem to remember about 2 weeks of email back and forth before we met her and the dogs, and decided on the spot to take our guy). I was impressed that she did the screenings, and offered dogs free from some of the common joint afflictions. And, by raising the dogs in a home/family environment, he was used to normal household noises (dishwasher, washing machine). She told us that the dogs are from calm parents, and with typical puppy training, you can wind up with a pretty calm dog. We have a calm(er) dog at almost 2, than when we first got him. Our neighbors have a doodle (different breeder), and very little training or socialization, and their dog is a hyper mess. He is our first dog ever, and we're in love. Let me know if you have other questions.

Laurel Ridge?  If that's the place, I can try to answer your questions.
