Hi Claire, take solace in knowing that Daisy, who is now a perfect angel at 3, was a monster from 8 to 10 months. I believe they call that period the teen years, they are trying to be independent and we just cannot allow it! LOL
What we found to be the most helpful was plenty of exercise...not just physical but mental as well. We would hide treats, show her where one is and tell her go find and she would search for the others. As far as physical goes we made sure Daisy was good and tired. We play at least 1 hour a day...we break them into two sessions...morning and night. I know that is not easy when you have a 4 year old but it really is necessary.
Is there anyway you can take Charlie to a daycare once or twice a week? When Daisy was that age it would wipe her out. She no longer goes, she goes to work with me instead. If she didn't get the morning 1/2 hour she would be too restless for that.
Please joint the puppy group, I swear there are Einsteins in there. They will help you through this very difficult period.
Daisy has a little sister from the same parents, she belongs to a friend of mind. When we have Bella for extended periods of time (like their vacation or heavy work schedule) she comes to us a wild child...she leave us an angel. She does not get enough exercise and her Mom knows it. She takes about 1 full day and she is wonderful. Bella is 18 months younger so 1-1/2. She misbehaves at home but again, she does not get the attention she needs to be a good girl like she does at our house.
It's easy for me to say as I have no children at home and my husband and I were ready for the process. It is a LOT of work but it sounds like you are up to the challenge.
Your little boy is adorable...he will love being the boss.
HI Claire! Charlie Brown is a doll! Your son is very cute too! I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving! Welcome to DK! I have survived the past 4 mos with my new dood Doc & 1 yr old daughter, Raven with the help of the "experts" here at DK. =) I joined lots of groups like "Puppy Madness" and read allot, it is very addicting!
I was wondering what exactly you meant by "who is incredibly challenging compared to any dog I have ever had!". I hope you aren't having issues. Let me know, maybe we can offer some advice and help. We are full of advice here at DoodleKisses. LOL
I see you have a 4 year old, doodle mixed with child tends to be a lot of work, since your Charlie Brown appears to be young in his photo I am sure you are having quite the time.
Hi Claire, I see where you were looking for info about dry skin and course hair. Though my Daisy did have courser hair she did not have dry skin. However a lot of the other owners were giving their Doodles Evening Primrose Oil so I decided to give it a try. It has been fantastic for her fur...it is much softer and fluffier. It took a good 3 months to notice the difference and now I wouldn't feed her without her EPO every day.
