Connie, please join us in The Food Group. There is a ton of information and discussions there about all of these issues: Rx foods, allergies, a list of recommended brands, etc. that is far too extensive to reproduce here in the main forum.
I will tell you that there are very few foods on the market today that contain wheat at all, and none of those on our recommended list. I will also tell you that food allergies in dogs are relatively rare, accounting for only 1%, despite what you see in dog chat forums. Nine to one, your dog's itching is caused by inhaled allergens such as pollen, dust mites, molds, etc. And the brand has nothing to do with it; a dog can't be allergic to a brand of food, it's specific ingredients. The fatty acid ratios also play a role in itching. Shedding is also not caused by allergies or food.

Doug looks so different in these photos. Are you sure it's the same dog? :-)
Hi Connie
We are another doodle family form southern Ontario. Doug looks like a fun dog!! As we all know, you ge tthe dog you need, not necessarily the dog you want. Sounds like Doug was meant ot be part of your life as you go through some difficult times!! My Mila has brought comfort to me and to my mom in last couple of weeks since my dad passed away.
