We had Maggie, our Beardie for 13 years. She was such an amazing dog. We lost her almost 8 years ago - it seems like yesterday. She was diagnosed with Addisons Disease at a year of age but she stayed pretty healthy with the meds that was prescribed. Twice a day - a pain bu she was so worth it.
Last year DH and I kept giong back and forth -do we get another dog or not. Our human kids are grown, 1 married and the other lives 15 minutes away. DH & I work together. I was out withyounder daughter one day, decided to stop 'just to look' at the puppies at a pet store (not from puppy mills but later learned from a back yard breeder), saw Samantha, DH came to meet her and as they say, that's all she wrote. We are lucky that she is healthy. She is the light of these empty nesters. We are in Florida for the month and decided to drive the 1200+ miles so she could be with us instead of home with my older daughter.
We stopped on the way to visit friends in Richmond. Belinda Stevens of the Richmond group surprised us with a Doodle Romp -16 doodles at 9am on a damp, cold ugly day! We had such a wonderful time meeting people and being able to put voices to faces we see in DK. You will love this site - the info and the people are great.
Welcome to DK!!
